Episode 3: The Power to Create
Alan
Good day everyone. I’m Alan. Welcome back to the Stillmind Collection.
Jay
And I’m Jay. We’re super glad you could join us today.
Alan
Um...Jay. I’ve been, I don’t know, I’ve been dwelling on this one idea lately... it’s been rattling around in my head a bit.
Jay
Oh boy, here we go. What’s the big thought today?
Alan
No, seriously! It’s just... this thought that as humans, we actually have so much more potential than we ever really give ourselves credit for.
Jay
Yeah... I definitely feel that. But, at the same time... most of us just don’t really feel that potential in the day-to-day grind, you know? It gets buried under the noise.
Alan
Exactly! That's the thing. It’s like—we get stuck in these routines, we deal with the stress, the emails, the rubbish commute... and we just kind of forget that we actually have the ability to, well, shape our lives.
Jay
It reminds me of what His Holiness the Dalai Lama shares in the Meditation of Living. He says... (Read slowly and deliberately) "I think human beings are the superior sentient beings on this planet. Humans have the potential not only to create happy lives for themselves, but also to help other beings. We have a natural creative ability... and it is very important to realize this."
Alan
See, that’s self-worth in a much deeper sense. It's not "confidence" in that loud, flashy, American "main character" way—if you’ll forgive me, Jay.
Jay
Hey now! But no, I get it. It’s deeper than just being "bold."
Alan
It’s more about... quietly knowing... "Right, I can actually choose how I respond to this moment."
Jay
And it’s not even just for ourselves, right? There’s also this whole idea of... purpose.
Alan
Precisely... like your life isn’t just about, I don't know, "muddling through" the week.
Jay
Yeah! It can actually contribute to something... bigger. Even in these really tiny, almost invisible ways.
Alan
Oh! This reminds me. Something clicked for me the other day. I was sitting in a coffee shop...just drifting in my own world, probably letting some little work issue takes up way more space than it deserved.
Jay
Mm-hmm... yeah, I’ve definitely seen that "overthinking" look on you before.
Alan
Fair point! But I caught a look at the barista and he just seemed fried. Like, totally overwhelmed...you could literally feel the stress coming off him.
Jay
I know exactly what you mean... you can just feel that frenetic energy from someone sometimes.
Alan
Quite. And normally... I’d just grab my favorite morning coffee and leave. But for some reason, right then, I just... I paused. I smiled and just said, “Thank you for your service,. You’re doing a brilliant job.”
Jay
That’s it? That was the whole thing?
Alan
That was it. But Jay, you could literally see it... his whole expression just... it shifted.
Jay
Wow. That’s such a perfect example. It’s small... but the small kind gesture makes a difference.
Alan
Yeah. It just reminded me that... helping others? It doesn’t have to be some big, dramatic, cinematic event.
Jay
I totally agree. Compassion can be so simple. It's just being present... noticing... and then just responding with a bit of kindness.
Alan
And that’s where the "creativity" comes in, too.
Jay
Wait, creativity? I didn't know you were an artist now, Alan.
Alan
No, no—not in the "painting a canvas" sense. But in how we actually... respond to life.
Jay
Oh... Okay, wait, I like that. Go on.
Alan
Like, every situation gives you options, doesn't it? You can react the usual, automatic way...
Jay
...or you can try something different.
Alan
Exactly. Like...Choosing the quiet strength of patience instead of letting frustration take the wheel when things fall apart.
Jay
Or maybe... understanding instead of that quick, snap judgment.
Alan
That’s creativity in real life. That's building a better reality.
Jay
And honestly? That gives me a lot of hope.
Alan
It really does.
Jay
Because it means no matter where you’re at right now... you’re not stuck.
Alan
Right... I reckon you can still create change.
Jay
You can shift your mindset...
Alan
...and you can impact the people around you. Even in those tiny ways.
Jay
It’s kind of amazing when you actually stop to think about it.
Alan
Yeah. We’re not just reacting to life.
Jay
No. We’re shaping it. Moment by moment.
Jay
Alright, I think it’s time for our daily reflection. So... let’s just take a moment to pause here.
Alan
Relax. Try to empty your thoughts. Just... take a breath... and check in with yourself. []
Jay
Ask yourself... "Do I recognize my own potential... or do I tend to underestimate it?"
Alan
And just gently reflect... "How am I creating happiness in my own life right now?"
Jay
Maybe also this... "In what small way... what tiny way... can I help someone today?"
Alan
And think about your current situation. "How can I respond differently... with just a little more awareness... or a little more kindness?"
Jay
...And finally... let's keep it simple. "What’s one small action I can take today...just one step to create something positive impact in my life?"
Alan
Just one small step.
Jay
Changes... they come little by little.
Alan
Because you already have the ability.
Jay
To create... to shift... to make a real difference.
Alan
So... take care of your mind. Do something useful today. And just notice the ripples. They’re already spreading.
Jay
This is Stillmind Collection. Calm within... impact beyond.
Alan
We’ll see you next time.
