Good Day, this is Alan. Welcome back to the Stillmind Collection.
Jay
Hello everyone, my name is Jay. We’re really glad you’re here with us today.
Alan
You know, Jay... sometimes I catch myself just... running. Running after things that, if I’m being honest... don’t really matter.
Jay
Oh, yeah... like chasing that next paycheck, or the newest gadget... even just scrolling for the latest update on social media...
Alan
Exactly! Right? And I think to myself, "Okay, this is the thing. This will make me happy." But somehow, gratification doesn't last long.
Jay
It’s that "moving goalpost" feeling. Well, here’s what His Holiness the Dalai Lama shares in the Meditation of Living: [lowers pitch, speaking slowly and deliberately] "We do not usually know how to distinguish between what is essential and what is secondary. We spend our lives running about here and there after pleasures that are forever eluding us and leaving us unsatisfied. Yeah. It's easy to lose sight of the big picture when the "now" is so noisy. We chase the titles and the "stuff"...thinking it'll fill us up...but we're usually just left feeling empty once the high wears off.

...but it’s all temporary.
Alan
Right. It comes... and then it goes.
Jay
And the tough part is, in that chase... we can lose our clarity. We might even hurt the people around us without meaning to... and still end up feeling, you know... kind of empty.
Alan
Totally. Actually, I had a moment like this just the other day. I was so caught up in work... deadlines, endless emails, moving projects forward...
Jay
Ah, the "busyness trap." I know it well.
Alan
Oh, it’s a trap for sure. And I realized... I hadn’t even taken two minutes to really talk to my partner that day... or didn’t call my mom to check in on her for more than two weeks. I was just... completely focused on my "to-do" list.
Jay
...Um. I hear you. It’s scary how easy it is to chase those 'achievements' and completely miss the moments that matter. We overlook the people right in front of us—our family, our closest friends... the ones we’re actually building a life with.
Alan
And that’s the big realization, right? Real satisfaction... it doesn't come from collecting more.
Jay
Mm-hmm. It comes from clarity. Just... knowing what’s essential and appreciation.
Alan
Yeah... and simplicity. Less chasing... and just a bit more being.
Jay
And awareness, too. Noticing how our actions ripple out and affect others...
Alan
Right. Because if my "happiness" comes at the expense of someone else’s peace... well, it's not really the true happiness. isn't it? We've said it before: true happiness is inclusive. It's about creating a vibe where everyone can thrive.
Jay
It’s also about breaking that cycle. We keep wanting "more," but the "more" never stops wanting us.
Alan
Mm... that endless desire-to-dissatisfaction loop.
Jay
When we step out of it... even just a little bit... we finally feel peace.
Alan
Agreed. Inner fulfillment. Peace of mind, meaningful connection... just living ethically.
Jay
And that... that actually lasts.
Alan
Jay, I wanted to share with you that I've started a small practice since last week... every morning, I just stop and ask myself: "What’s essential today? What actually matters?"
Jay
Ah... I really, really like that. It’s simple, you know? Just a small bit of self-realization... but it totally changes the way you navigate your whole day.
Alan
Honestly, even those split-second moments... they're huge. If we can just lean into a little patience, or lead with a bit of kindness—just taking one breath to actually see the person in front of us—that’s where the energy really shifts.
Jay
Exactly. I mean, that is real living.

Alright, I think it’s time for our daily reflection.
Alan
[soft, calm tone] Let’s take a moment. Just take a deep breath... and check in..... "Am I chasing things that truly satisfy me... or just temporary pleasure?"
Jay
Think about your day-to-day for a moment. 'What truly matters to me right now—and what’s just... distraction?
Alan
Try to pause for a minute. Take a look at the people in your life... and just ask yourself... 'In my own hustle for happiness, how am I affecting others in ways I usually just... overlook?
Jay
And let’s be real about what we’re clinging to... Ask yourself, 'What am I holding onto today that’s just a quick fix... just instant gratification?
Alan
And finally... for today... "What can I let go of... just to create a little more peace?"
Jay
It starts with one small moment of self-awareness. Just noticing that your mind is clear...it's like a weight is lifted. It makes everything feel a bit more manageable, doesn't it?
Alan
Because happiness... it grows when it’s aligned with what truly matters.....
